Obama hit this Debate out of the Ballpark, folks!

Hello,

Obama laid out the olive branch, suggesting that we all cooperate. McCain repeatedly attacked, telling Obama that he didn't understand.

McCain repeated, over and over, the Republican talking points, having to do with tax cuts for businesses. Obama stressed the need to take care of the Middle Class; the ordinary person.

McCain kept on harping on "the Surge in Iraq", trying to force Obama to agree that he was right. Obama said, straight out, that we need to deploy our Military wisely, and treat our soldiars well.

Need I go on?

Nuh-uh. Obama may have defeated McCain on paper, but not rhetorically. He made the fatal mistake of not expressing emotion, which hardly dispels his persona as out of touch with regular folks. I slightly prefer Obama to McCain (much more so when I consider the VPs), but I think he lost last nite.

Hello xoynx. Thank you for your comment.

Point taken about not expressing emotion, but I look at the ways that McCain came across "as out of touch with regular folks". For example, McCain railed about Earmarks, which, from other speeches of his, appear to include things like the SCHIP bill he voted against (at least when it was about overriding Bush's Veto), while being for more money for Iraq. How is Iraq spending going to affect the "regular folks", especially when they are trying to figure out how to pay for health care, or how they will fill the gas tank of their car?
